SINGAPORE, 16 October - Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) has partnered with the Halal Products Research Institute (HPRI) and the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) to conduct the back-to-back training workshops on Halal Slaughtering and Certification and Halal Executive and Management. The back-to-back training-workshops aim to enhance the capacities of halal professionals, practitioners, policymakers, and regulators, as well as other key players and stakeholders on halal slaughtering and certification with focus on Singapore; further develop the knowledge and skills of key players and stakeholders of the halal industry in the ASEAN region on Halal standards and compliance through the application of practical methods, techniques, procedures, technologies, and tools; and increase the exchange of knowledge and information and explore potential collaborations for the continuous development of the region’s halal industry.

The back-to-back training-workshops was held on 16-19 October 2023 at Parkroyal on Kitchener Road, Singapore. A total of 43 participants from MUIS attended the Training Workshops on Halal Slaughtering and Certification while a total of 25 representatives from the ASEAN Technical Working Group on Halal Food (TWGHF), Halal researchers, academicians, industry players, and officials from certification and regulatory bodies/ministries from the ASEAN has attended the Training Workshops on Halal Executive and Management.
